Meet the Counselors

Vision

The vision of the Ressie Jeffries Elementary school counseling program is that every student participates in learning through inspiration, engagement, empowerment and innovation every day. Our students are resilient and well-adjusted lifelong learners. Students of Ressie Jeffries Elementary are fully prepared for the postsecondary option of their choosing and to ultimately embark on their preferred careers.

Mission

The mission of the Ressie Jeffries Elementary school counseling program is to provide all students equitable access to a data-informed comprehensive school counseling program in order to empower everyone to achieve excellence by sparking inspiration and learning through innovation with cooperative efforts of all stakeholders. The program provides activities to help all students reach their fullest potential in regards to their academic, social-emotional and career development so that they may be respectful, caring and responsible individuals.

Our Role

The school counseling program provides comprehensive services to all of our students. We address the academic, personal/social, and college/career development of each student including managing strong emotions, solving conflicts, setting goals, exploring careers and learning study skills. These services are provided through classroom and school-wide programs for all students along with individual and small group counseling as needed for some students. Our state standards can be found at the VDoE Website.

Our annual calendar shows our lesson and small group topics in addition to other tasks.

Parents and staff can refer students for counseling or students can refer themselves. This can be done by contacting the appropriate school counselor for your child according to his/her grade.
